Joanna Oates
Jo is an experienced nutritional therapist and qualified teacher. She works in various medical and complementary health clinics throughout London. She is also a trained metabolic balance® coach.
Jo has successfully used nutrition to support a wide variety of conditions, including stress, fatigue, weight-management, digestive problems, hormonal disorders and allergies. She is convinced that good nutrition is the backbone of health, and that the benefits of other therapies and treatments can be enhanced by eating the right diet.
Jo recognises the importance of food as a source of pleasure and its valuable role within family and social contexts. Having travelled widely, she loves trying foods and recipes from other countries and cultures, as well as traditional British food. As a working mother, she is familiar with the pressures of modern life. Her aim is to provide realistic, practical, dietary advice to suit individual lifestyles and budget. She believes in making nutritional advice available to all and has a wide variety of patients, including men, children and OAPs. Jo recognises that making changes can be challenging and she uses coaching and motivational interviewing techniques to help you realise your goals.
Prior to training as a nutritional therapist, Jo worked as a teacher, lecturer and student counsellor in the UK and overseas. She currently teaches nutrition and train nutritional therapists at university level. Jo also works as a wellness coach for corporate clients, delivering workshops and one-to-one sessions with employees. She loves conducting research and writing about nutrition and has created a number of distance learning study modules for undergraduate courses in Nutritional Therapy.
