Usually we celebrate the art of Herbal Medicine for a meagre week in June, but this year we are going wild with a whole year celebrating Herbal Medicine!
To share our love of herbs with our community, in the wild urban spaces around us, we will be foraging for the kitchen and the medicine cabinet.
This year our urban adventure (herb walk & tea party) is on the Saturday 28th June at 10am – 12pm, through Mountsfield Park. This park never fails to supply a bounty of wild herbs to discover from the huge Lime blossom trees to the small shrubby St. Johns wort.
Sorrell Robbins, Medical Herbalist will be your guide and explain the fascinating history, traditional medicinal uses and some recipes made up from the herbs you see growing wild in the park and nature reserve you explore together. This gentle guided walk around the park will take about 1 hour, followed by a picnic style tea party with herbal teas and treats, like lemon balm lemonade and lavender shortbreads.
This walk is pathed and suitable for prams or wheelchair users – although a bit bumpy and steep in places. Please come prepared for English weather – occasionally wellies and an umbrella are a good idea. Kids welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
